Chart window unctionality

The Chart Window can be hidden and shown again.

With Constructor mode disabled, the chart works as a regular terminal window in the default layout.

With Constructor mode enabled, the chart window can be closed. To show it again, use the โž•Chart button in the layout editing panel in the lower-right part of the terminal. After adding the window, the layout is edited as usual. Additional commands are available in the editing panel: the Save button locks the current layout, and the Default button restores the standard window arrangement.

Timeframe Selection Panel

At the top of the Chart Window, there is a Timeframe Selection Panel. A set of standard intervals is availableโ€”the ones traders use most often.

Any standard interval from the list can be added to Favorites by clicking the star icon next to its name.

Custom Timeframes

For a timeframe that is not included in the list of standard intervals, it is necessary to click the chart and enter a numeric value using the keyboard โ€” the interval selection window with a hint opens. Such a timeframe is not added to the general list of standard intervals. If necessary, it can be set again in the same way โ€” by entering a numeric value using the keyboard.

TradingView Indicators

The chart window supports the main TradingView display modes: bars, candles, and other options. The indicators menu is opened on the chart control panel.

Not all indicators available on the TradingView website are available in the terminal: some public library functionality is limited. At the same time, some paid TradingView indicators are available for free, for example VPVR (Volume Profile), which helps identify key support and resistance levels.

The chart can include more than three different indicators โ€” an extension compared to the free version of TradingView. Settings close to TradingView standard values are recommended. With a significant deviation from standard parameters, minor delays in chart performance are possible.

Vertical volumes

One of the basic tools for working with volume is vertical volumes.

To add vertical volumes:

  • open the TradingView indicators menu on the top panel of the chart window;

  • in the search field, enter Volume;

  • in the list, select the Volume indicator without any additional prefixes.

Indicator settings

The position of indicators in the chart window can be changed. To do this, hover the mouse cursor over its name, click the gear icon, select the Style tab, and in the Placement section choose Left or Right. Additionally, on this tab it is possible to change the color display and add some functions.

To return the indicator to its original appearance, in the lower-left corner Reset settings. When selecting Set as default, the system saves the current indicator settings and applies them the next time the indicator is added to the chart.

Indicators have the Hide, Settings, and Delete buttons, as well as additional functions. The indicator panel can be resized vertically and, if needed, moved to the top of the window or moved back.

To free up more space for the chart, double-click the chart workspace with the left mouse button โ€” the indicators below the chart will be temporarily hidden. To show them again, use the icon in the upper-right corner of the window or double-click the left mouse button again.

Top panel

+SL and +TP

On the panel above the chart, the +SL and +TP buttons are located. These commands allow you to immediately add Stop Loss and Take Profit levels when creating a trade. With an active limit or conditional order, two labels appear: one at the current price and one at a level offset by 1% from it. When adding Stop Loss, a third label appears. The levels are moved in the trade creation window to the required values, then the volume and trade direction are set.

Arrows and order lines

Show/Hide arrows โ€” show or hide buy and sell markers on the chart.

Show/Hide order lines โ€” show or hide order lines on the chart. This button is unavailable while the trade editing window is open. Close the window first, then select the button. The order lines will disappear from the chart.

Undo and redo actions

The Undo (left arrow) and Redo (right arrow) buttons allow you to undo or redo the most recent action performed in the chart workspace.

Save and load a chart

All added indicators and drawing tools on the chart are saved automatically.

To save the objects added to the chart, it is recommended to:

  • click Manage layouts;

  • select Rename;

  • enter any name and save the chart.

To load a previously saved chart:

  • in the same menu, select Load layout;

  • select the most recent saved item.

After that, all objects are restored to their previous state.

Full-screen mode

After activating full-screen mode, moving the mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen displays the zoom and scrolling buttons, as well as a button that returns the chart to its original position vertically and horizontally. To exit full-screen mode, press Escape, or move the cursor to the top of the screen and click the X.

Chart snapshot

Take a snapshot command allows creating an image of the chart window without using additional software. After the snapshot is created:

  • the image is saved on the TradingView server;

  • a link becomes available and can be copied and shared;

  • the snapshot can be saved in JPG format.

Chart settings

The gear icon in the upper-right corner opens the chartโ€™s general settings window.

In the Symbol section, the display of the selected chart type (candles, bars, etc.) is configured, as well as the time zone currently used on the chart.

In the Scales and lines section, the price scale position (right, left, or automatic), the date display format on hover, and other scale parameters are configured.

In the Canvas section, the colors of the background, grid, lines, borders, text, and workspace padding are adjusted.

The Apply defaults button at the bottom of the settings window resets the parameters in all sections to their default values.

Price scale

The price scale on the right stretches or compresses when dragged with the mouse; the default scale view is restored with a double-click. The scale menu in the lower-right corner of the chart provides additional commands, including Invert scale for an alternative view of price movement.

Two price scale modes are also available: the Regular (linear) scale (default, shows absolute changes) and the Logarithmic scale, where equal percentage changes have the same height regardless of the current price.

Time scale and metrics below the chart

The timeframe selector in the upper-left corner of the chart defines the candle interval; the bottom time scale is displayed according to the selected timeframe.

The bottom scale shows the time period; the values depend on the selected timeframe. The scale is adjusted by dragging it with the mouse; a double-click resets the scale to the default view.

Three metrics are displayed below the scale: the 24-hour trading volume in USDT for the selected asset, the 24-hour price change in percent, and the current market price.

Tools panel

The TradingView tools panel is a vertical menu on the chart that contains everything required for visual analysis, from basic lines to forecasting tools. An overview of all tool groups in this panel is provided below.

A tool can be added to Favorites via the star icon; selecting it again removes the tool from Favorites.

Selecting a tool opens a panel for editing its parameters: style, coordinates, timeframe visibility, and layer order; the panel also provides duplication, locking, temporary hiding, and object removal. The Favorites panel remains available even in full-screen mode, and tools stay accessible.

Selecting a tool and clicking the workspace places the element and opens its settings panel. The panel can be used to change the layer order, duplicate the tool, copy it, and enable locking (locking prevents unwanted and accidental changes to the selected tool).

The tool can also be hidden: it disappears from the workspace without being removed.

To display it, scroll down the left panel, select Object Tree, find the tool in the list, and click the eye icon.

Apply Defaults button in the settings, in the lower-left corner of the panel, resets all tool parameters to the default values.

The TradingView tools panel also includes a pointer (cursor) mode selector, tools for drawing trend lines and price levels (including Fibonacci and Gann), standard pattern templates, and tools for measuring distance and time, building forecasts, drawing shapes, adding text notes, and using decorative icons. The panel also provides zoom and measurement tools, a Magnet mode for snapping to the nearest price levels, functions for locking or hiding objects, synchronization between charts, and quick removal of all drawn elements. All these tools simplify technical chart analysis by helping highlight key levels and events visually.
